1) I have seen this concept before, but then it was just at the drawing board stage, now it seems it has advanced to a prototype testing phase, always a good sign. The first one I saw involved freeway off ramps hooked to street and traffic lights. That goes way beyond this, but this is a start, a speed bump generating some electric power at a burger king. 2) What the hey? As long as we are looking to go green at Burger King why not go over the edge, this is after all the Gregg Zone. Lets look into a green technology that can really make a difference like at McDonalds; we are talking in-vitro meat for your burger, and Chicken McNuggets. When you look at the carbon foot print, providing you can get past the yuck factor we can really save some environment here. And, what the heck who knows what is in that Big Mac anyway, for a while Jack was severing up Kanga & Roo. By the time the processing is over it may as well be in-vitro lab meat anyway. http://www.cnn.com
3) This is one that I suspect some may find very useful, I know I discovered it a little late in the game for my battle with Cox cable. I for one get quite agitated with these automated telephone systems, press this, then that, say yes, then no, feeling like a trained animal in a vaudeville show of some sort. Well if you want to get past it all and talk to a human quick, say at Dell Tech, or Wells Fargo this site is for you. Three days ago when I discovered it there were around 1,200 companies listed today it was over 1,300 so it is growing, there is a list of codes to get to a human being, much more than just press O, sometimes it is much more complicated, this one can save you some time, and maybe your sanity. http://www.gethuman.com
4) This one is an interesting sort of geeky subject bordering on the zone. A very interesting site, with the top ten weird computer systems. Systems based on everything from DNA to Billiard Balls, and Mold. When it comes to computing sometimes we get hung up on the paradigm of the moment. After all the subject goes back thousands of years, maybe in some regards for millennial. Any way it is always a good idea to try and expand ones view of a particular subject, or concept. 5) This is one of those things coming along that make Star Trek look like it is coming true in our life time. The universal translator; seems that at the moment it is only working in web browsers, well Fire Fox anyway it can recognize the language and automatically translate into your preferred language, 40 languages at the moment. Due to my pay grade I am not sure what is new about this, but the announcement was yesterday, so there must be something here, I have used the Google tool before. I guess the deal here is it is automatic, no need to click on a translate button. It will be very cool when this is all hooked into a small PDA you can carry around your neck when globe hopping, or maybe next year as an App for your phone. http://www.newscientist.com
