Windows XP will be Integrated Into Windows 7

Windows 7 is approaching its official release date not too long from now, and this week Microsoft unveiled one of the "secret" technologies that will ship with Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate. 1. Bad news for the IT department of your home or office. Now TWO operating systems will have to be maintained on every machine: that's two reboots for Windows patches; two different AV programs ...

The only practical use I can see for the 4 - 6 GB RAM consumer machines that are common today is Windows 7 with XP. The memory footprint of XP in a virtual partition under Windows 7 will be huge. But it will heat the room nicely (something AlaskaJoe thinks about).
