1) Often amazed by some of the human powered devices I run across, but this is a new one even for me. A human powered motor home. They are saying it would make a great home for the homeless. Not sure how to comment on that but, I could have seen myself playing around with something like this when I lived by the beach in Santa Barbara, oh yea, and I was in my twenties. http://www.iheartchaos.com

2) I used a link a week or two back that referenced the upper atmosphere collapsing, well I found a story explaining what happened. It appears that it was the Sun’s energy fluctuations were the culprit. It is beginning to appear there is more to the Sun and its influence on our planet than our science has uncovered to date. http://www.ouramazingplanet.com/

3) This is a pretty interesting site if you have an interest in learning a new language. I started and gave up on Spanish several times over the years, I have accepted that I am too old and my brain is just not flexible enough. But, for you or anyone you know that might be interested, this is a free online way to learn a new language. It is evidently a different structure than usual in that it is a coop type site. http://www.livemocha.com/

4) This is one of those medical advances that look like they might make a very big difference in the way we recover from heart problems. They may have found a way to heal a damaged heart. Hearts damaged from heart attacks evidently do not heal well, stem cells were looking very promising, but now they think they may have something easier, and maybe better. http://www.telegraph.co.uk

5) Last link for the week a link to an interesting article on how the internet is changing our language. I have found myself using several of these examples myself. http://www.bbc.co.uk

Watch Netflix On Your iPhone or iPhone Touch Without a Jailbreak or Hack - How-To Geek

I though who would want to watch a movie or TV show on their phone? Then we were talking about when you MIGHT want to, like waiting in a doctors office, of waiting for someone. Well here is an App I had to try. I don't have many games on my iPhone, but now I do have this app. I would rather watch NCIS than just sit and watch Oprah on the big screen, when in a waiting room.

"To watch streaming Netflix content on your iPhone in the past you needed to jailbreak and hack it, but no longer. Today we look at the new official Netflix app that will now stream content to your iPhone or iPod Touch.

This is an App I might use,

Use your iPhone as a self checkout device

To followup on this week's App Corner:

The new iPhone App, AisleBuyer, uses the iPhone's camera as a bar code scanner to let you scan your purchases as you shop, and then pay via credit card to bypass checkout.

Granted, the app is only partnered with one retail partner in the Boston area so far, but this must be the beginning.....

WikiLeaks founder rape arrest warrant dropped

WikiLeaks is preparing to release of a fresh batch of classified U.S. documents from the Afghan war, despite warnings from the Pentagon that they could endanger American soldiers and their Afghan helpers.
A Stockholm prosecutor issued the arrest warrant Friday, saying Assange was suspected of rape and molestation in two separate cases. But chief prosecutor Eva Finne withdrew the warrant within 24 hours.

1) This whole green energy thing is taking us into areas I never thought of in terms of fueling my car, week before last it was the poo car, late kudo’s to Troll on that one. This week I just ran across a new fuel prototype using urine. Coming out of Scotland they seem to be fairly sure they can pull this off. Makes one wonder about the restrooms of the future, very tempting to comment here, but I will behave myself. Anyway, article link here http://www.hw.ac.uk
2) Most of the people who know me well, know that I am interested in eating healthy. I read labels on almost everything looking for reasons not to buy something. I read a lot on the net regarding food. When I saw this article I was not surprised, but still shocked. I avoid most junk foods anyway, but to think the addictions developed from the additives would cause test animals to starve when deprived is alarming. http://www.naturalnews.com

3) I surf a lot of technology sites on the net, because I am very interested in the concept that our technology is inter-related with evolution of humans as a species. The changes in our self-perception alone, changes due to the speed of news and communication, the staggering amount of information at our fingertips, we do not generally notice these changes we just adapt. But, the way we perceive ourselves as human beings, has been slightly altered, and we most likely will pass it on. Add to the equation the evolutionary effect of medical tech, and everything else. It is obvious we are controlling our fate, technology has some down side. Here is an article raising some important points to consider as we move on. http://www.uproxx.com
4) There seems to be no limit as to what new wondrous machines we can develop to move us and our necessities around the planet. When it comes to excess we seem to be very talented. So why stop at flying cars, if a car can turn into an airplane why not a super yacht. Well it is still on the drawing board, but evidently it is possible and at some level they are thinking about it. http://www.cnn.com
5) I am never to sure trying to do a geek link I always worry about being way over impressed by something 5 years old or something. But, this impressed me. I know next to nothing about hard drives, I have installed a few, but for me it is just remove, and replace. I don’t know what is inside, or how it works. This is an article about the new drives coming out late this year in all kinds of devices, they say. A 64 gigabyte hard drive the size or a postage stamp, and looking at the picture about the same thickness, soldered on the mother board. http://gammasquad.uproxx.com/

Researchers craft algorithm to turn mesh networking green

After dismissing fiber-to-the-home as "cost-prohibitive," they suggest that a wireless mesh is the best way to solve many of the last-mile problems. In an appropriately dense environment, a few fiber-fed access points, either 4G or WiFi, could allow the signals to be propagated out through the networking hardware of individual users
