In the same "Open source" vein: Bell South snubs New Orleans "it seems that BellSouth's offer was conditional on New Orleans not going through with a plan to build a free city wi-fi network.
Within an hour of the scheme going live yesterday, head of BellSouth´s Louisiana operations, Bill Oliver, angrily rescinded the offer of the building in a conversation with New Orleans homeland security director Terry Ebbert, who oversees the 1,650-member police force." This is why we'll never have universal wifi, in the near future anyway. Which I think really hurts the people that don't have any internet access except dialup (You know who you are )
