Windows 7 Arrives October 22nd

Microsoft Corporation on Tuesday announced the date the latest version of the Windows operating system, Windows 7, will be in general commercial availability: Oct. 22. Guess that means the Release Candidate process is going well.  My reading of the 'Net tea leaves is that it's going just fine.  So mark your calendars: October 22nd is the birth of Windows 7 and the assured demise of Vista.

Meanwhile at Computex in Taiwan, Acer announced it will ship a netbook this year with Google's Android operating system.  Head up, Linux and Windows! Of course, I will predict here that by 2012 Google will be defending Android for not supporting alternative search engines in the European Union anti-trust bureaucracy's quest for competitive purity.
