Black hat: microsoft releases free security tools to the community - The Inquirer

UNPATCHED MICROSOFT APPLICATIONS, which can't be many, can now be dealt with using a tool for IT administrators developed by the dominant consumer PC software company.

I think this is a look in the right direction. I know there are a lot of apps out there that need fixing. Maybe this will help.
