Having scoped my neighborhood with the overheads provided by Keyhole, recently acquired by Google, I can tell you that digital overhead photography on the Internet has gotten way better in the past five years. With better commercial satellites, desktop software and the desktop power to run it, and cheap storage for all those terabytes of territory, digital geogpaphy is better than ever.
Microsoft and Google will soon introduce new products, partly aimed at delivering a geographic context to retail storefronts.
Oh, and beware of lying naked in the privacy your backyard on a clear day. A few years ago, you'd be a pixel to a satellite. Maybe. Not anymore.
