Microsoft Windows Server Takes Half the Loaf

For all the ink about the growth of Linux in the enterprise, the fact is that Microsft has executed methodically but without inspiration for the past five years (since Windows 2000). As a result of this hard work, Microsoft has now achieved parity with all other server operating systems platforms based on IDC's Q1 market research. Gartner reached a similar conclusion.

Microsoft should be pleased, as I see the trend continuing towards more Microsoft market share in servers. That is also good news for the hardware ecosystem, especially Intel and AMD.
